Position Overview

Development & Alumni Engagement is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief Associate Director, Alumni Partnerships for approximately 11 months.

Reporting to the Director, Alumni Partnerships, the Associate Director, Alumni Partnerships will have primary responsibility to lead and support the development of two key areas - faculty alumni engagement reporting and the Alumni Engagement Partnership program - both of which are integral to the success of the greater UCalgary Alumni team. This position will supervise and provide performance management for an AUPE position which is tasked in supporting faculties in consistent and effective data collection and entry. Hours of employment for this position are standard however some evening and weekend work is required.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

PARTNERSHIPS & ENGAGEMENT

  • Develop and execute a strategic faculty alumni engagement reporting strategy to ensure consistent, effective and sustainable data collection and entry, which will serve to improve data integrity within the Alumni Engagement Scoring model and increase value of alumni data to partners within DAE
  • Work with other leaders in DAE, partners in faculties and departments across the university to help meet alumni engagement reporting objectives
  • Identify new opportunities to strengthen internal partnerships across campus which will benefit alumni
  • Working with the UCalgary Alumni team, Prospect Research, and faculty partners, lead the integration of the Alumni Engagement Partnership program
  • Work with AVP and Director to assess and design programs to meet the evolving needs of partners and alumni
  • Continuously steward relationships with new and existing partners across campus and identify opportunities for collaboration and program enhancement
  • Work closely with Associate Directors of Programs and Services and Alumni Engagement to ensure awareness, support and collaboration within the UCalgary Alumni team
  • Provide guidance to direct report regarding the development of job aids and provision of associated training to optimize reporting procedures for faculty partners as needed

PERFORMANCE & MARKET RESEARCH

  • Develop and implement common program assessment tools for alumni engagement
  • Hire, train and supervise student staff for various support roles, as needed (ex: data entry, event support)
  • Identify and incorporate findings from best practice research into collaborative initiatives and programming
  • Connect with and research aspirational institutions to inform the continued evolution of the Alumni Engagement Scoring model

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

  • Work closely with Programs and Services team to ensure alignment of Alumni Engagement Partnership plan initiatives with core programming
  • Contribute to overall planning and integration of faculty content into Alumni Weekend program on annual basis

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  • Work closely with Development & Alumni Engagement colleagues to ensure effective, consistent and meaningful communications of alumni engagement opportunities
  • Develop tools to demonstrate performance and promote opportunities to broader DAE and university community

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • University degree or college diploma, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years experience in alumni engagement, community relations, or a related field
  • Experience providing direct supervision of staff, including performance management
  • Demonstrated leadership, creativity, resourcefulness and excellent ability in planning and communicating
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Experience in program development, delivery and implementation
  • Strong fiscal management and budgeting skills
  • Well-developed project management skills with a strong attention to detail and demonstrated time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills and the ability to represent the University of Calgary in a professional manner
  • Must be flexible and have some ability to work outside of normal business hours
  • An understanding of, and a passion for, working within a performance management culture
